title pic Review: Babeland Body Massage Candle

Posted by Sarahbear on December 2, 2009

The folks over at Babeland have been wonderful enough to take me on as a product reviewer. Their customer service has been nothing short of amazing. They’re quick and friendly in their correspondence. I received my first package from them yesterday. Inside the package was my candle, my lube and some interesting papers. My grandmother always taught me that it was polite to read cards before opening your gifts, so I took the time to go through all the neat things they sent me. They sent a mini-catalog that included a ‘Welcome to Babeland’ letter from the founders of the company, color photos, descriptions and prices for 24 of their best-selling products, contact information, and a coupon for 10% off my first Babeland order. I also received a cute little postcard advertisement offering me 15% off my next purchase. The most important thing I received was a pamphlet called ‘Tips & Tricks’ with descriptions of how to properly care for your sex toys according to the type of material they are made of. There’s advice for safer sex with lubes and barriers, G-spot, P-spot, anal sex and cock ring tips.  It’s important to stress the need for safety during sex and toy use. The fact that Babeland created a pamphlet with all of this information in it speaks volumes about what an awesome company they are.

I requested the Babeland Body Massage Candle as my first product to review. The one I received was the Citron Fig scent, and it’s lovely. It has a sweet citrus smell. At times it’s a little overwhelming and it could potentially cause you massive headaches if you are sensitive to scents.

I love getting massages. My husband has been kind enough to give me many throughout our marriage. The only thing that sucks about them is always the temperature of the lotion or oil. If it’s cold, or even room temperature it kind of takes away from how good it feels.

That’s why this candle is so amazing.

You light it about 20-30 minutes before you are going to do your massage and it melts into a silky, fragrant and warm massage oil. Just blow out the flame and pour onto your body. Even after it’s freshly melted, the temperature of the oil is perfect for massage. The soy wax and shea butter blend leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft. It’s great to use during the winter when most people’s skin tends to dry out.

I was worried that I might have to wait for the whole candle to melt to have enough oil for one massage. It surprised me when just a fraction of the candle needed to be melted to provide me with enough wax for my whole body. It takes about 20 minutes for the oil to start to firm back up, so you may want to focus on smaller areas to massage. Any oil you don’t use will harden back into the candle until you are ready to use for your next massage. I would guess you would get 15-20 massages out of this 3 oz candle.

The candle is pretty and fragrant enough that you could display it on any surface in your home. If you won’t be using it that often you may want to store it inside of the sturdy little cardboard container it comes in. This will help prevent dust and pet hair from getting into it. (This is important to mention because I have a Siberian Husky who sheds an entire dog every day.) The container is pretty enough to give as a gift, in a gift basket and is a great idea for a stocking stuffer.

I’m very pleased with the Babeland Body Massage Candle. I told my husband last night that I wanted to get one of each scent (Rice Flower, Citron Fig, Pashmina, Mango Vanilla) for our anniversary trip in February.
