title pic Review: Onye Fleur

Posted by Sarahbear on December 29, 2009

The Onyé Fleur is a gorgeous little vibrator. To be honest, I was a little disappointed in the packaging, for two main reasons. First, this toy gave me the impression that it was a smaller, more discreet version of the Onyé, which is marketed on some websites as a luxury toy, complete with a satin lined case for storage. The Onyé Fleur did not come with any type of storage. A satin storage bag just sort of says luxury and it protects high quality sex toys from damage.

The Onyé Fleur came in a simple, clear plastic box. The molded plastic insert displayed the vibrator in the center, creating the idea that it was floating around in a Japanese Cherry Blossom tree. This was the other thing that I thought was not quite right. I wasn’t annoyed with it or disappointed, but I just thought it was weird that a toy with a French name would be marketed with a traditional Japanese flower. What was pretty clever about the box was that the flowery display was actually a box that had the pamphlet with important information about the toy in it. This is clever and a creative way to keep the packaging looking as clean as possible, but it may cause some people to accidentally toss out the important information. The bottom of the box does tell the purchaser to retain the box for future reference, but I was curious before I noticed that and peeked inside.

The pamphlet is black and white with more pictures of Japanese Cherry Blossom trees on the front and back. The first page is a letter from the CEO & Cheif Designer of Big Tease Toys, Tony Levine where he talks about Greenpeace calling for bans on phthalates in toys and letting you know that his company has never used phthalates in their toys. There is a page with a diagram showing how to install the batteries, turn it on and off and clean it and a laundry list of things to do and not to do with your Onyé Fleur. There is also a 90 day limited warranty, provided you keep up with your receipt.

Just because I was disappointed with the packaging does not mean I hated the toy. In fact, I love it. I think I might love it even if it didn’t work because of how pretty it is. I have the red/pearl version and it is gorgeous. It’s about 4 1/2″ long, and 1 1/2″ wide. It’s made of a hard plastic with a rubbery band surrounding the toy about an inch from the top. It sort of looks like a cigar in design. The rubber portion has a flowery, scrolling pattern centered on the front of the toy and branching evenly around the sides. It reminds me of a rubber stamp. On top of just being very pretty, this provides a nice textured area to hold onto during masturbation, so you won’t be fumbling around and getting frustrated with this vibrator when you’ve got lube all over your hands.

The coloring of this toy is absolutely beautiful. The paint is a rich, metallic red color. It makes me think of a car with it’s glossy shine. The rubber band is a matte red and is accented with shiny silver stripes outlining it all the way around the vibrator. The company’s simple logo is printed on the front of the toy in silver, not taking anything away from the look of this toy. On the very top of the toy, the on/off button is made of the same material as the grip around the toy. It’s red and outlined with silver with the little power symbol embossed on it.

Pressing the power button gives a nice, audible click to let you know you’ve changed the setting of the vibrator. The vibrations pause as you press the button between each setting. The three settings are low, medium and high. Even the lowest setting is pretty intense, and the highest setting is very strong. Almost numbing for me. Each setting produces a high pitched whine that is loud enough to hear in a quiet room, but could be muffled by a blanket and a closed door.

It’s a clitoral stimulator, but it could be inserted vaginally if you wanted. It may not provide much stimulation internally due to the size though. The intense vibrations feel really good to massage on the perineum during oral sex or on the anus externally. I would NOT recommend inserting this toy anally at all. It’s round edges and short length, with no flared base would land you in the emergency room with an embarrassing and painful extraction.

It runs on 3 AAA batteries, which can be installed by twisting the toy apart and following the symbols on the battery compartment. The Onyé Fleur is waterproof, but the manual suggests that this is only in water that’s as deep as the average bath tub and not to submerge the entire toy for longer than about 20 minutes. Cleaning is easy enough. You just wash with soap and water or an adult toy cleaner. You may need to use an old tooth brush to clean the intricate design around the textured band.

Over all I got the impression that the Onyé Fleur is a good quality vibrator. It’s intense vibrations and gorgeous look make this a wonderful toy to own. Thanks to Babeland for letting me review it!
