title pic Review: Snugglepuss

Posted by Sarahbear on January 26, 2010

The Snugglepuss is one of the few C-shaped vibrators available. It’s designed for dual stimulation of the g-spot and clitoris. It’s actually a wonderful idea, in theory, but the design was excuted poorly.

I received my Snugglepuss from Vibrator.com for review. It arrived in a simple priority mail box via USPS with no hints of what the contents inside were. The pink toy rested in basic clam-shell packaging and gave me no trouble opening it to try. Once I got it out I looked it over for an on/off switch. When I was unable to find one I looked at the packaging and the directions were clear about what to do to activate the toy. More on this a little later.

The Snugglepuss has a wide shaped head for g-spot stimulation. It’s very similar to many popular g-spot vibrators (i.e. Ella, Gigi, Sugar Drop). This portion of the toy is approximately three inches long. It tapers into a slender curve that is meant to hug the vulva, nestling neatly between the labia and vibrate against the clitoris. The clitoral stimulator is about two fingers wide with small wings for added sensation against the labia.

Both the g-spot and clitoral portions of the Snugglepuss are covered with tiny nubs. These are meant to provide continuous, pleasurable stimulation against these parts of a woman’s anatomy. However, I found them to be painful and aggravating. Due to the design of the toy and the way the vibrations work, it felt like the toy was scraping the walls of my vagina during insertion.

There are no on or off buttons or dials to control this toy. You simply peel off the layer of elastomer skin covering the clitoral portion of the toy to reveal the battery compartment. It’s a small rectangle with a plastic cover. Inside of the cover are three LR44 (watch) batteries and a little red plastic separator to keep the toy from running down the batteries before it’s open. Once you remove the plastic sheet the toy is on unless it’s resting in it’s natural shape. If you pull it apart or push it closer together it will vibrate non-stop. Here’s where the SnugglePuss really starts to be a pain in my ass. You have to put the clitoral skin back over the end of the toy while simultaneously battling with the battery cover that does *not* lock in place and the vibrations.

Yeah.

The battery compartment is covered with that plastic rectangle that just lays over the batteries. It doesn’t slide into place and latch like the majority of anything in the history of ever that uses batteries. So you’re trying to hold the SnugglePuss upright so that the battery cover doesn’t fall off and trying to stretch the skin back over the clit stimulator. Because of the way you have to hold the toy as you replace the skin, it’s vibrating.

After frustrating myself with the battery issues I decided to lube it up and give it a shot. In order to insert it you have to hold the toy apart which causes it to turn on. So I was shoving vibrating vagina scrapers into my most delicate lady parts. It’s pretty hard to be turned on when you just abused your vagina. It holds a grudge sometimes. Once the SnugglePuss was snuggling inside my pussy it stayed put. There was nothing really indicative of what to do when this toy was inside. The vibrations weren’t strong enough to do anything on their own and it’s not really something you can thrust with so I invited my husband to use his penis to try to help me out. It’s small enough that it looked like it could be used during sex. It is small enough, but it just made the nubs more painful because each thrust seemed to grab the toy and grind the nubs into my poor clitoris.

We stopped and my husband immediately began shaving the nubs off of the entire toy. A couple of nights later we decided to try it out again. No nubs definitely made the SnugglePuss a lot easier to insert. It created a problem though because the nubs seemed to provide enough friction to hold it in place. Without them it seemed to slide out of my body constantly. It’s possible that my vagina was just clenched closed in an effort of self preservation and it had let down it’s guard when the nubs were gone though.

We tried having sex with it in again. This time it slid out more and the end of the clit stimulator began slamming into my clit with every thrust. I stopped my husband, snatched the toy out and threw it towards the dresser. I imagine that if your anatomy is shaped similarly to this toy and you enjoy nubs on your toys then you might find this toy enjoyable. For us, it was a dud and we won’t be using it again. The basic shape is a good idea, but due to the way the toy turns on it was very poorly executed.
