I gotta stop reading them. I end up so furious I can't see straight.

I've got a damn good man. One who's a little stereotypical in some of his personality, but mostly they broke the mold when they made him. And the things they attribute to him just because he's male piss me off in ways I can't describe.

Thanks for this post. :)

It makes me sad that you feel this way. Obviously you have every right to call yourself whatever you want, but to me feminist has always been a positive thing.

Feminism to me is not about belittling the struggles of men. It is about celebrating the acheivements of women and helping them to acheive more. It is about being treated like an equal.

And yes, men do struggle sometimes. But ultimately feminism is there to fight a battle for women. It would have been silly to say 'why doesn't Martin Luther King care about all the white people who are suffering?', or even that matter the Native Americans, the Mexicans and all other oppressed nations. He was fighting one particular battle, and feminism is doing the same. Feminism should take on board the struggles of others but ultimately no movement can be all things to all people.

Similarly just because someone calls themselves a feminist it does not mean that they are a good one. Look at Sarah Palin, for example. I don't want to jump on the hating-bandwagon but she calls herself a feminist and yet there are many examples of her actively not helping women. Feminism means different things to different people, just as being a Christian means different things to different people.

I hope this doesn't come off as disrespectful because I am not meaning it that way at all. I just genuinely feel that feminism can be such a positive thing and I am sorry that the negative facets of it have put you off.

This quote rings true on a lot of levels: "While you may fully believe that your message is about empowering women, it’s not coming across that way."

Whatever you are arguing or promoting, if it's not coming across to your audience the way you want it to, then something needs to change.

I'm not getting into the rest of it because I'm trying to stay away from this whole "feminist" storm, and you already know how I feel about "mansplaining" anyway.
