title pic Wednesday: Weigh In

Posted by Sarahbear on November 17, 2010

This was taken last week at 251 lbs.

Starting Weight: 268.2 lbs

Current Weight: 247.4 lbs

Hell Yes! Two goals met. I’m under 250 lbs and I’ve lost 21 lbs, since August. I hit a sort of plateau these past two weeks. I had gotten to 249 lbs and then I went out for a weekend, indulging on high sodium restaurant goodies, and was back up to 252. Then the next week I got my period. So much water retention! I had to work hard to stay within my calorie goals, while still trying to calm those sweet and salty period cravings. I did it, and it was worth it. I’ve reached two of my mini-goals because of it. I’m hoping to have dropped 30 lbs by Christmas/New Years.

Even if the pounds are coming off more slowly than I’d like, the inches are coming off. I’m pleased with that because it means my body is toning up. I love noticing small changes in my body, like the rolls in my back are nearly gone. Particularly the one above my butt. It’s looking pretty tight and muscular. Cellulite is becoming a thing of the past. I just stand in the mirror and admire my naked butt and back now. I’m a little proud of it.

The other day I told my sister it felt different to walk. I wasn’t sure how, but it just felt odd. I realized that my waist is more defined now, so my arms swing easier. I feel lighter. She’s lost almost as much as I have. We’re encouraging each other.

The biggest change has been how my clothing fits. I was squeezing into 22/24 pants and 1x/2x tops in July. Now I’m easily fitting into 18 pants and L/XL tops. I even bought a size 16 skirt that fits really well. All of these clothes were bought as goal clothes and wound up fitting when I got them home. It felt great because it showed me how hard I’ve been working, but it also stunk because that just meant they wouldn’t be wearable as long. Fortunately, I’m a savvy shopper. Working retail taught me what sales to hit and I always buy my stuff off the clearance racks. I got an $89 pair of Lucky Brand pants for $9.98 and a $60 top for $7.98. That helps soften the blow when I think about how these clothes won’t be fitting for very long.

The only thing I splurge on is bras. You absolutely need well fitting underclothes and most important is a supportive bra. I was in a 42DD in July. Now I’m in a 38DDD. You can fudge a bit on cup size, but most of your support comes from your band. If the band is too loose, you need a new bra. I’ve tried to get by with 2 bras in my size, because that’s shrinking so quickly.

This was just kind of an update on my goals and progress. I’m hoping to take pictures in the outfit I had on in my progress pics for tomorrows HNT. I’ve got a busy day ahead of me. Thanksgiving luncheon at Ethan’s school followed by a girl’s day out with my sister, hitting the clearance racks for new clothes and having a nice dinner.

Happy Wednesday!
