What a difference 11 lbs makes!

See any difference yet?

What about now?

I’m trying to take pictures in the same outfit every time I do these so that everything is more noticeable. The photos on the left are from September 3, 2010 when I weighed 257 lbs. The ones on the right are from December 3, 2010 and I weigh 246 lbs. It’s taken a while to get these 11 lbs off, but things are still changing. I’ve had some hiccups with over-indulging on days I spent out of the house. My biggest enemy has been sodium, and restaurants seem to serve up a quadruple portion of what anyone needs in an entire day in a single meal. It seems like any time I eat out I gain 3-5 lbs of water weight that takes a while to get rid of. I think it’s getting better though. Two months ago it took a full week to lose that bloat, but this week it only took 1 day. Perhaps my body is leveling itself out, finally, and I can have fun things in moderation without wreaking havoc on all my progress.

I’m still noticing plenty of non-scale victories too. It’s getting easier to estimate my calorie intake and easier to exercise. The other night my stupid sweet husky got loose, and if you know anything about Sibes it’s that they love to run. They’re really smart too, so the last trick you used to catch them will not work the next time you try it. We have to get really creative. One of the things we’ve learned is that if we get her attention and run, she’ll come run beside us. Well, I did that, and I ran down the street without feeling pain in my legs or getting winded. I could have kept jogging, and she might have followed me, but she also has the attention span of a gnat so I was trying to get her inside the house. I may invest in some reflective running clothes and start going for some jogs in the evening. Chad likes jogging more than he likes dvd’s so maybe he’ll go too.

I’m still noticing subtle changes in my body and the way my clothes fit. I’m in a size 18 for real now. No squeezing or muffin tops. Even with my progress being slow, I am happy with it because it’s staying. Other times I tried to lose weight with crash diets or pills I could lose 30 lbs in a month, but it all came right back a month or two later. I also never noticed much difference in the way my clothes fit. This time my body is trimming up and toning up better, despite the numbers being low. I’ve lost a total of 22 lbs in about 4 months, which is actually within the recommended range or 1-2 lbs a week. I’m hoping or 25-30 lbs by Christmas/New Years.

Have a great Saturday, everyone.
