EdenFantasys sent me the Wine Jeweled Babydoll by Escante to review last week. I was pretty disappointed about not being able to wear it because the size chart was way off, but it’s still a pretty piece. You can check out my review on EdenFantasys.com.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of JimmyJane products. Well, their massage products. I’ve yet to really test many of their vibrators. I love their candles and ceramic massagers so much that I didn’t just buy a set for myself last Christmas. I also bought some for my parents. I picked a fragrance I knew each of them would like and got them the Contour M. For Chad and I, I picked up the Afterglow Sampler set and the Contour I. I really wanted the Contour Q as well, but it doesn’t seem to be in stock anywhere.
I guess I’ll start with the sampler. It’s a set of 6 candles in some of JimmyJane’s best scents:
Bourbon – This is a really musky, woodsy scent.
Cucumber Water – Similar to the favorite cucumber scented body lotions available everywhere. My second favorite in the set.
Dark Vanilla – A heavy vanilla scent that’s less sweet smelling than your average vanilla lotion or candle.
Grapefruit – Citrus-sweet scent that I wasn’t very fond of.
Pink Lotus – Difficult to describe, but my absolute favorite of the bunch.
Truffle and Gardenia – Very floral scent.
Each candle is a little less than half the size of the regular sized candles, standing at 1 & 1/4″ tall. I probably got about 5-8 massages out of each candle, and Chad uses a liberal amount of the melted wax. The oil melts fairly quickly (much quicker than LELO’s candles) and spreads well. You can get enough for a massage after about 20 minutes of burning. I usually take a shower and do all my pre-bedtime stuff while it’s lit. By the time I’m done, there’s enough to work with. The best thing about massage candles is that the wax gets heated to the absolute perfect temperature. It’s warm enough to relax the muscles and be sensual, but it’s not hot enough to blister your skin. It’s quite moisturizing and can be a tad heavy during the summer months if you live in a humid place like I do. During the winter, when skin tends to be dryer, it’s perfect.
There are some perks with getting the sampler instead of the full sized candles. Of course, you get to try out a wider variety of scents if you’re unsure which you or your partner would prefer. They also make excellent gifts since they come in the simple white box with the gorgeous pink ribbon tied around it. I’ve gushed before about how perfect JimmyJane products are for gifts due to their simple yet pretty packaging. You can give the set all together in the box, where it’s sort of like a box of chocolates with the guide showing what scent is where. Or, you can take the mini-candles and stuff them into a stocking (they’re labeled on the bottom and sealed, so don’t worry about confusing the scents or them spilling) along with the JimmyJane Contour ceramic massagers. I put my parents stuff in a big basket and they loved it.
Speaking of the ceramic massagers, I picked up the Contour I* along with my sampler. It works with the Contour M by fitting into the grooves and creates a handle to roll it around with. All of the massagers can be used alone or combined with each other. The ceramic can be heated or cooled in a bowl of warm or cold water, and it maintains it’s temperature for a while. This is really great with the candles because the warm wax heats up the ceramic to just the right temperature. I absolutely love all of these and can’t recommend them enough.
The one thing I do want to mention about the candles is that you want to keep something covering them when they’re not being used. The wax is a different texture than regular candles and the dust from the air sticks to it. You may also want to pinch off the blackened part of the wick to prevent the charred part from flaking off into the candle. You don’t really want that mixed in with your massage oil.
*The Contour I only seems to be available at EdenFantasys with the Beyond Euphoric lotion as a set. The lotion is amazing too, and I reviewed it here.
I went to one of those “pleasure” parties a few years ago and purchased a book written by Dr. Sadie Allison that I loved. When MyPleasure was offering another one of her books to review last month, I put in my request and waited for it to arrive.
Tickle Your Fancy: A Woman’s Guide to Sexual Self-Pleasure manages to take you through the basics definitions and techniques for female masturbation, while being conveniently condensed into about 100 pages and providing plenty of cute cartoon, yet accurate, diagrams. Dr. Sadie Allison manages this by giving much of her information in bullet points and using the drawings to help drive the point home.
In the beginning of the book she discusses how female masturbation has been considered taboo in much of society, pointing out how this has led to a real lack of experience and knowledge about what works for women sexually. Our bodies are complicated. We all like different things and learning how to orgasm takes time. Once she assures her readers that female masturbation and experimentation is okay, she lists the different parts of our anatomy that can be sexually stimulated. Each part is clearly labeled on a cartoon drawing and defined. She encourages women to take a mirror and look at themselves to help identify and recognize the different parts of our body. This can definitely help us learn what we enjoy.
Next she moves on to doing things like setting the mood. It’s important for partnered sex, but women enjoy sensual music or porn during masturbation too. A bubble bath, having the lights dimmed and candles lit can help relax our bodies and make it easier for us to achieve an orgasm. She mentions the importance of using lubricants before finally moving on to different techniques you can use to touch your clitoris, labia and the entire vulva to figure out what sort of stimulating feelings you enjoy. She briefly discusses the types of toys you can use and how you should clean them, along with discussing the safety of various products.
This is basically a really great how-to book that explains all of the basics in a non-intimidating format. Depending on the type of relationship you have with your mother, friends or daughters, it might be a good gift idea.
It’s been a long month. Longer, actually. All the doctor tests came back normal. I had a sonogram to check for fibroids or lesions, and there were none to be found. The doctor talked with me about my results for my lab tests, all normal. He said it’s good because it rules out all the bad stuff. He doesn’t believe there’s anything wrong, aside from the fact I have consistently irregular (ha) periods. He hopes the glucophage with get my insulin in check, and eventually I’ll start to ovulate regularly again.
I’m just exhausted. Bleeding for 6 weeks, two of those while taking a medication that was suppose to make me stop bleeding, then being put on an even higher dose of estrogen for a few more weeks was awful. Since the estrace didn’t work, he had me stack Loestrin24e (3 a day for 3 days, 2 a day for 2 days, then 1 a day til I finished the pack). I did stop bleeding, had some breakthrough spotting after a couple of days, then as soon as I finished the pack I started bleeding again. Heavily. He said I’d have a cycle, but good grief. I’d just like to go a bit longer without having to worry about if I’m going to have to empty my Lunette Cup in the college bathrooms or having to wash my completely worn out Luna panties every single night (I’m crossing my fingers that I get some new ones and some pads for Christmas). This is getting really old.
A couple of weeks ago I posted that I had met with a new OB/GYN about my prolonged bleeding. He prescribed estrace to stop it, and I took it as prescribed for two weeks. Friday was my last dose and I am still bleeding. Not only did I continue to bleed throughout taking the medication, but it got heavier as well. I called his office yesterday when I finished class and spoke with the receptionist about what’s going on. She said he’d likely want to see me back since the medication isn’t working. So, I’ve got an appointment this morning at 11:30.
It works out alright, I guess, because I get a chance to eat lunch with Chad near his job since the doctor’s office is located close by. I’m getting a little bit worried though. With the heavier bleeding I’ve noticed I’m more tired and that I even sometimes feel like passing out when I’m doing Turbo Fire. Yes, it’s intense exercise, but I never had any problems with that before. Not even when I first started doing it and hadn’t been exercising in years. I’ll keep everyone posted on what’s going on as soon as I hear anything.
A couple of weeks ago, the folks at MyPleasure were kind enough to send me some new items to review. One of those items was the “Sinner’s Paradise” lingerie set by Dreamgirl. I’ve been meaning to pick it up for a while now, since it was fairly inexpensive and looked very sexy on the models.
To start, the costume comes in two sizes. One size fits most or Queen. My measurements put me in the queen sized version. As far as sizing goes, the material is very slinky and stretchy, so it would likely expand to fit the range of measurements it claims to. The halter neck allows for the bust to be adjusted to fit a wide variety of chest sizes as well, while still being fairly flattering. The ruched seam down the front of the sheer chemise helps to camouflage any areas you might be self conscious about.
More accurate see-through Queen Size
When I say sheer, I mean sheer. The picture on the site does not demonstrate how thin and see through this thing is. That’s not a bad thing, considering it is lingerie, but it’s something to keep in mind. The box it came it shows a more accurate portrayal of the item, complete with visible nipples, belly button, butt crack and thong. You more than likely wouldn’t want to choose this for a costume party.
There are a few things that are kind of meh about the costume though. First, the tail sucks. It’s as if Dreamgirl took a wire hanger, covered it in the same red sheer material as the chemise, sewed a little red heart on the bottom and tacked it to the back of the costume before bending it in a zigzag and cramming it into the box. You can’t wear the costume straight out of the box. It takes a good 10 minutes to straighten out the tail and then try to shape it into the cute curve in the pictures. Even then, it just sort of hangs oddly off of your butt because the weight of the tail pulls the delicate material of the chemise. In my opinion, you don’t even really need the tail, so you could carefully clip it off with a pair of sewing scissors.
See Through Queen Size Back with "cute" tail
The other things that seem like more of an afterthought are the headband and thong. The headband does not stand up like it does in the photos. Since it’s the same material as the rest of the lingerie, it’s very delicate and stretchy. It also ties around your head, underneath your hair, which doesn’t help it stand up. It works as a red headband, but it doesn’t achieve the appearance of devil horns. The thong is just a cheaply made, sheer, red, one-size fits poorly piece of string. You don’t really need the thong, I guess, but if they’re going to go through the trouble to make all of these extra items to add to the lingerie, they could at least make it worthwhile.
All in all, it’s not exactly my favorite lingerie. I don’t honestly think it’s worth the $34 price tag. I’m probably going to snip off the tail and toss the other pieces, because the chemise is pretty and comfortable enough by itself and I already own it. There are a few DreamGirl products that I have liked, but I definitely prefer the quality of Coquette.
A couple of weeks ago, a friend posted a link to an article and video about Boyz II Men on Facebook. We found out they were releasing a new album on October 25th (yesterday) and we were really excited to get it. We picked up “Twenty” at the store this morning and it has satisfied my nostalgia and introduced me to new good music. My favorite song so far is “More Than You’ll Ever Know” —
I’ve mentioned a few other times that I have had major issues with my menstrual cycles. It’s been happening for about 4 years now. Every doctor I have been to has put me on the newest hormonal birth control being pushed. It seemed to work, for a month or two, then I’d get moody and depressed from all the estrogen. So I would stop taking it, and the problems would come back. I would go longer and longer without having a period, and then I would have one that lasted several weeks.
On top of that, I would bust my ass trying to lose weight and get about 30 lbs off before the longest period of my life happened and I started eating everything that didn’t move. Obviously, I would put the weight back on in a short span of time.
Friday I was able to meet with a new OB/GYN who told me that he suspects I have insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. He also said he thinks I may be dealing with some PCOS and thyroid problems. He said they’re all sort of inter-related and cyclical, so they make each other worse. He prescribed some estrogen to flush out my period and get it to stop and metformin to try to get the insulin issues taken care of. It’s weird, because I do feel a bit better, though I am exhausted. I’m sure it’s got something to do with the heavy bleeding.
Aside from the major issues I’ve been dealing with, I have had no sex drive. I brought it up to this doctor and he actually addressed instead of glossing over it. Though he did mention that it tends to happen with kids and life keeping you busy, he wasn’t dismissive. He asked if it was exhaustion or if I just had no interest ever. It’s been the latter for a while now, so he wants to get my testosterone levels tested with everything else. I’m going to head to the doctor’s office in the morning to get my blood drawn, hopefully, and wait on those results.
In the mean time, I’m adjusting to the new medicines well and I’m hoping we sort out these issues. Increased sex drive means more toy reviews, hopefully just in time for Christmas!
My husband is taking his vacation starting Saturday and should be off for the entire week. No interruptions from work. The kids will be in school most days and that will leave us a bit of time to reconnect. It seems like he’s been working nonstop the past five weeks, so this time off is very welcome. While I’m in class, he can help get some of the housework done.
We need this time. We’ve neglected each other for responsibilities for too long, and busy times are coming with the holiday season approaching. I’m hoping we can establish a better schedule and not let it get this bad again.
If you’ve never heard of Nexus before, they’re a luxury sex toy manufacturing company. Their prostate massagers are some of the most popular in the industry and there is an obvious reason for this.
Because they’re awesome!
Chloe from Nexus sent me a few of their products to try out a couple of months back and the Silo was one of them.
The Silo
For starters, the Silo is one of the prostate plugs offered by Nexus. All that means is that it’s more of a hands free option. The design allows it to slide in and stay put while stimulating the prostate. If you squeeze or flex the muscles in that area, the plug will sort of rock back and forth to massage your prostate. It can be worn during sex or masturbation. A lot of times, the natural muscle spasms from having an orgasm and movements you use to thrust will be enough to move the plug.
Having said all of that, the plug was too large for Phallicity to enjoy. He wasn’t comfortable using it for anal play (on me or himself) because it’s size and shape are more geared for very advanced butt players. It’s made of a 100% matte silicone, which creates a bit more of a drag and gives some resistance to entry. It also doesn’t really have a slow taper that lends itself to more gentle anal use. Eventually, he may decide he’s ready for it, but for now he’s content to use the smaller plugs and massagers we own (and will be reviewing soon!).
Next to the Fun Factory Bootie (left) and Njoy Pure Plug small (right) for size comparison.
Next to other toys again, for size comparison.
So, we used it for g-spot stimulation. The same curve and stiffness of the toy that makes it ideal for prostate massage, make it a good g-spot toy. It’s relatively short and doesn’t have much of a handle, so for solo use it’s awkward to try to use, but it’s divine when you have a partner there to rock it around.
A few safety and care tips about the Silo:
It’s a butt toy. Butt toys are only safe if they have a flared base, so make sure that you invest in one that’s not going to land you in the emergency room. Nexus has plenty of options for you.
Again, it’s a butt toy. If you don’t use a condom over it, it’s going to come into contact the naturally occurring bacteria up there. Please be smart and properly clean anything you put up your butt. The Silo is 100% medical grade silicone so it can be boiled or washed on the top rack of the dishwasher (no soap) to sanitize it. You can also wash it with an antibacterial soap after use. Just be sure that if you share it, between holes or partners, that you sanitize it or slip a condom over it first!
Because it’s made of silicone, don’t use silicone based lubricants with it. The silicones will kill each other. These are luxury toys and you don’t want to mess them up!
