I was the lucky winner of the Candy Apple Kink Kit from Babeland a couple of weeks ago. I am absolutely thrilled with this luxuriously sexy set. Neither myself or my husband have ever really participated in any sort of BDSM before. We’re fairly certain we’re not going to delve into any hardcore stuff, it’s just not our cup of tea, but this set was a wonderful introduction to a few of the things we do like.

Included in this gorgeous kit are a red patent leather blindfold, paddle and cuffs. I’ll discuss each one separately.

Candy Apple Blindfold:

The blindfold for this set is shaped kind of like cat’s eye glasses. The combination of this shape and red patent leather give these such a sexy, vintage look. The leather is about 1/8″ thick and is lined on the inside with 1/2″ of black faux fur. The fur gives the interior of the blindfold a soft, plushy feeling adding to both the comfort and overall function. The adjustable strap is black with a satiny surface. It starts at about 10″ long, likely more for easy storage than for actual wear, and adjusts to about 17 1/4″. The leather portion is about 8″ across. My husband has a big head. He can’t usually wear hats because of this, but this blindfold fit him perfectly. The seaming is very sturdy all around with only a few stray threads poking out. This is just where they were reinforcing the stitching around the end and those can be snipped with a pair of scissors without any worry of damaging the blindfold.

Candy Apple Paddle:

The paddle is made of the same red patent leather as the rest of the kit. It’s about 12″ long from the bottom of the handle to the tip. The handle is 1 3/4″ wide and the paddling portion is about 3 3/4″ wide. There are 8 holes cut out that help “decrease resistance and increase momentum”. The size and weight of this also add to this feature. It’s comfortable enough to wield without tiring you out, yet sturdy enough to deliver a satisfying smack.  There are two metal studs that reinforce the handle and a short leather strap to hang this with. It’s sewn very sturdily and is a lot of fun to play with.

Candy Apple Wrist Restraints:

I think these are my favorite part of the entire kit. I’ve only ever owned cheap fuzzy handcuffs and I hated being restrained with them because of how they cut into my wrists. These are sexy and they do their job. Each cuff has two layers. The bottom layer is about 2 1/4″ wide and 12″ long. The top layer is like a belt, It’s about an inch wide and about 14″ long. There are 5 holes that are about an inch apart. My wrists are 7″ around and I need these tightened to the fourth hole in to keep from slipping my hands out. It’s possible that if you have very slender wrists and hands that these might not work for you.

The inside of the cuffs have a soft, black leather lining that is very smooth and comfortable. The metal studs along the cuffs are hidden well under the black leather. There are D-rings and O-rings on each cuff so that you have a variety of ways you can restrain your play partners. You can use the D-rings to hook your partners wrists together and then use the O-rings to hang their wrists from a hook. Or you can hook each wrist separately to bed or chair restraints. Get creative!

Since my husband and I are so new to this sort of thing we don’t have any hardware yet. We’re looking into a few different things, but in the mean time we just left the zip tie on the O-rings since it does the job fairly well. We’ll be investing in some more restraint systems soon, but until then ya gotta make due, ya know?

This entire kit is very well made. While you can buy each piece separately I would recommend the kit. Not just because you get a discount when you buy each piece together, but because they all play off of each other well. The blindfold works well to deprive you of your sense of sight, causing you to rely on your other senses. The sound the paddle makes when it smacks your bare ass is amazing and the noise of the hardware on the cuffs jingling with every move is sexy too. The feel of the soft, quality leather against your wrists and the fur against your face is luxurious. The set does have a slight odor of paint for a few days after you get it, but it gradually wears off with use and the real leather smell comes out more. Since these are made of real leather, if you’re vegan you’ll want to invest in something else. To care for these you’ll simply wipe the down with a damp or dry cloth and store them in a cool, dry place.
